Walkways I - A Photography Show

Since I have been going on about this for awhile, I am guessing that will not be news to many that I have a photography show going on at Koffi at Haultain Corners. Still, I thought that I would provide a little snippet of the show on here in the hopes that it may encourage some to go in and have a great cup of coffee and see the whole show. At the very end of the article is a short walkthrough video as well.

Sponsor Message: Citified is the most comprehensive resource for researching a new-build home or commercial space in metro Victoria and southern Vancouver Island.

Here is the intro text from the show:

I like finding the secrets of a city. Those spaces that you only find after you have spent some time there. That secret might a great place for cinnamon buns or coffee; it might be the viewpoint that feels like only you appreciate; or it might the pathways through the city that lets you change your route whenever you want.

Almost Before…

And After!

One of Victoria’s lesser known attributes are the mid-block walkways that wind their way all over downtown. Some of them are there on purpose, some are just an open parking lot. This is an ode the one that moves through the oldest part of the city, the 500 block between Wharf or Store and Government Street. You can make it all the way from Courtney Street to ten blocks to the north at Discovery Street As you walk along, you will see great shopping, back alleys, amazing places to eat and really get a sense of the city.

To create these photos, I walked this route four times. I did it twice with my film camera and twice with digital. Each walk was either strictly shot in colour or black and white. The walks occurred in February and March of 2021.

The show is running until October 10th. Please drop by and have a look. I would love to hear feedback both positive and critical of the show. Please leave comments below.
